EV routing

The availability and quality of EV routing in a region depends on:

  • The car road network map coverage level (corresponds with the map coverage levels detailed in the section Car Routing)
  • The spread and reachability of DC charging stations from any point on the road network within that region.

Based on charging stations reachability metric, regions are classified as follows.

Classification Definition
Full+ Assigned to regions where almost all of the road network has a charging station within a few kilometers and so best possible routes would always be computed.
Full Assigned to regions where significant part of road network has a charging station within a few kilometers and so reachable routes would always be computed.
Moderate Assigned to regions where significant part of road network has a charging station within 100 kilometers and so reachable routes can be computed, though sometimes requiring detours from the optimal route.
Low Assigned to regions where only some part of road network has a charging station within a few kilometers and so reachable routes can rarely be computed. Also the computed routes would require detours from the optimal route to ensure reachability.
